Clickers Pilot Project

Clickers are here! One set of classroom clickers is being used in Chem 150 by Prof. Tom Carey under a Title III Student Success Research Grant this semester. So far, students are receptive and Tom is appreciating the insight into student understanding of the concepts in real time. This section of Chem 150 is a 3-hour night course, so it looks like the Clickers are helping students stay engaged and focused. There have been some unclear functions with the clickers, but the Turning Technologies (clicker vendor) tech support has been great – they even answer the phone! Keep posted here for updates on the pilot as we move through the semester.

  1. Turning Technologies now also offers web-based polling on laptops and cellphones (including iPhones) that are web-enabled. This new capability provides still more flexibility to our suite of products allowing you to poll in Powerpoint, Poll Outside of Powerpoint, and Poll without a computer or projector.

  2. Marilyn, We just finished the clickers pilot and will analyze the results at the end of this month. The technology worked well!
