Lab Assistant – Engineering & Physics

Position Overview:

  • Work with department faculty to insure laboratory objectives are met as planned through the academic program during the course of the year
  • In coordination with department faculty, prepare equipment and supplies for laboratory work in accordance with departmental and professional standards
  • Provide assistance to students, as needed, on matters related to engineering and physics laboratory practice, policies and procedures
  • Correctly and efficiently set up engineering and physics laboratory equipment and materials used in exercises, activities and demonstrations
  • Work with department faculty to modify/improve existing labs and develop new labs
  • Insure that laboratory, storage areas and preparatory spaces are organized, clean and orderly
  • Maintain inventory stocks of equipment, materials and supplies
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

Requirements:  Equivalent to two years of college-level course work in engineering, physics or a closely-related field. Minimum two years of engineering and physics laboratory experience or equivalent.

Salary: $16.32/hr
Schedule:  Monday – Friday as needed; dependent upon class
