Sheeter Helper for Grade 3

We’re looking for Sheeter Helpers to join our Finishing Dept. within the Currency Division, based in Dalton, MA. These positions are at the Grade 3 Level.

The Sheeter Helper is responsible for inspecting, notching, counting, stacking, scanning and wrapping paper which comes off the Sheeters in the Finishing Department.  The Sheeter Helper moves on a rotational basis, between four or five work stations; Inspector/Notcher, Counter, Stacker, Runner and Scanner and is responsible for completing the processes at each work station adhering to quality standards and performing the work in a safe manner.  The Sheeter Helper may also be required to fill in at the Shrink Wrap station.  Work requirements will vary according to the Sheeter the Sheeter Helper is working on.

Responsibilities:

  • Visually inspect paper for defects
  • Remove paper which does not meet quality standards
  • Square reams of inspected paper
  • Inspect random sheets on light box
  • Notch reams of paper
  • Operate Counting Machine
  • Operate the Scanning Machine
  • Ensure accurate quantity of paper in each ream by adding/removing paper as needed for each ream
  • Prepare samples from each skid, correctly labeling each
  • Squarely stack reams of paper on skids
  • Take relative humidity readings for each skid and accurately record results
  • Ensure accurate ream count for each skid
  • Wrap and label each skid
  • Move full skids from stacking station to wrapping area
  • Resupply wrapping paper as needed in dispenser
  • Properly label and move baled broke from baler
  • Properly label and move skid broke to designated area.
  • Use the SMART System for ream tracking
  • Operate power truck/hand truck
  • Assist with removing jammed paper from the Sheeter
  • Assist with roll changes on the Sheeter
  • Assist with routine machine cleaning
  • Perform general housekeeping maintenance

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prefer industrial experience
  • Ability to demonstrate the skills and meet the criteria of a Grade 3 as outlined in the Sheeter Helper Grade 3 Certification
  • Possess basic mathematical skills
  • Possess basic computer knowledge
  • Must have proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Willing and able to pass a Power Truck Certification class
  • Ability to read, write, keep neat and accurate records, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to understand and follow operating/job procedures and work in a safe manner
  • Willing to train new members of the department
  • Must be willing and able to understand the quality requirements of Crane & Co., Inc.’s products, and his/her role in ensuring this quality
  • Ability to pass and maintain security clearance through the US Treasury Dept.
