Job Training Workshops – Goodwill

Dear Colleague,

-Goodwill has announced their workforce development fall schedule of training programs that benefit older workers, transitional youth, non-English speakers, veterans and others.

-The Goodwill job training maker space provides a welcome setting in which participants learn skills and gain work experience that helps them achieve their goals, enhance their resumes and qualify them for their next great job.

-These programs are available at no-cost or low-cost thanks to donations, sales in our retail stores, grant funding including Berkshire Bank Foundation and others, our volunteers, business partners, and income generated from recycling-based Business 101 projects.

To register participants for any of our Fall programs, please contact Goodwill Manager of Workforce Development Kathy Anker at 413-442-0061 or kanker@goodwill-berkshires.org

Our fall program schedule includes:

Business 101: Spot-On Cleaning

Starting on Monday October 27, the 15-week-long custodial business program “Spot-On-Cleaning” begins. Participants develop skills not only in custodial cleaning, they also learn pricing and scheduling work, customer service and satisfaction. Enrollment is on a rolling basis, allowing new students to join throughout the program’s progression.

Soft Skills Development

Starting on Friday October 17, the six-week “GoodWorks Soft Skills” class teaches teamwork, decision-making, builds self-confidence and skills for a successful career.  This Fall session is taught by Goodwill on location at Mildred Elley in Pittsfield on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Business 101: Recycled Rags

Accepting participants for this program in late fall. This operational business repurposes textiles into a marketable commodity – industrial cleaning rags. This business-within-a-business in the Pittsfield training maker space provides the opportunity for participants to build skills in textile recycling processing, sales and customer service.

Suit Yourself, which provides business attire and interview coaching for job seekers, is available to all participants in Goodwill job readiness training programs.
