PRINCIPLE CLERK

DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE – OFFICE OF THE TAX COLLECTOR

 The City of Pittsfield is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Principle Clerk within the Office of the Tax Collector. The Clerk is responsible for collecting and receiving revenue which includes parking fines, real estate taxes, excise taxes, water & sewer fees, and various department billings. Additional responsibilities of the Principle Clerk include but are not limited to: inputting and scanning all transactions on computer terminals, balancing cash drawer and preparing deposits, producing and balancing daily update reports, assisting general public via telephone and at tax office window, and all other related clerical work in accordance with previously mentioned duties.

The candidate will possess exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to handle and deal effectively with the public. In addition, the candidate should possess previous experience with cash handling procedures, as well as working in a fast-paced office environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with solid computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office programs and other software programs as required for the job.

35 Hours per week, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Salary:  $13.78 – $14.49 per hour.
